Description

Old jetty was originally built in 1901 and has an important place in Whyalla’s history. It has now been disused for over 40 years, with extensive growth on pylons.

Marine life seen includes tommy ruff, garfish, squid, blue swimmer crabs, port Jackson sharks, jellyfish and some species of whiting.

The wharf nearby is very popular with fishermen.

Access

Access via the beach or via boat. The jetty is entirely submerged.

If going via the beach, there are old pylons that you can use to find it. There is a yellow channel marker in the water that can also be used as a waypoint.
