Description

Stony Point Pier is located on the western side of Western Port, and the eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. It acts as a port for various vessels including passenger ferries to French Island and Phillip Island. As it's a working pier it's important divers stay out of the way of all commercial activities.

One side of the pier is for access to the ferry terminal service from Stony Point to French and Phillip Island, which is restricted to anglers. The right-hand side of the pier is accessible to the public.

Currents are a major factor when trying to dive at Stony Point Pier. Strong tidal currents swirl around the point and through the pier. Best dived on slack water, preferably at the end of an incoming flood tide.

You are likely to see Squid, King George whiting, Australian salmon, silver trevally, yellow-eye mullet, flathead, and snapper here.
