Description

The Saurian is a shipwreck that sits in 25 meters of water just off of O'Sullivans Beach. Originally a dredger, the Saurian was deliberately scuttled on the 25th November 1954.

Given the age of sinking there is some great growth on the wreck and lots of sealife. It is deeper than some of the other wrecks in the gulf, so bottom time is limited.

The wreck lies upright, with all the outer hull in tact. The wreck is 50 meters long, 9.2 meters wide, and 3.6 meters high.

The interior of the ship is divided into a couple of corridors you can swim through, plus some sections which are mostly entirely empty. Within the wreck there are a few small overhead sections that can be penetrated with appropriate skills. Otherwise the wreck is mostly open.

Access

Access is via boat, with the closest ramp being O'Sullivan boat ramp, but West Beach is also an option.
