Orr Point lies to south-east of Orr Point Beach, a 300 metre long back beach of Rye on the Mornington Peninsula. At Orr Point, intertidal rocks and reef flats front most of the beach, with only a small area of direct access to the surf. The beach is only active at high tide and is backed by both sand dunes and calcarenite bluffs. Waves break over the continuous outer reefs, causing the wave height at the shore to be lowered.
