Description

North East Reef runs for about 250 metres from the north-east tip of Lady Julia Percy Island in a north-east direction. The reef tip sits in about 20 metres and reef top ranges in depth between 8–10 metres as it broadens towards the island. The are a couple of shallower rocks (6–8 metres) nearer the island that may "fizz", even on a good day.

The northern face of North East Reef has some sections of relatively steep drop-offs and consists of stacked/tumbled boulders. The distinct northern sand edge runs from the reef tip at 20 metres, all the way around toward Landing Bay and ends in about 6–8 metres.

The south-eastern face of the reef is probably more interesting with canyons down to 16–18 metres, rock overhangs, draped ribbon kelp and pebble gutters. The whole effect is like a landscaped garden.
